New Delhi: Union Minister Nitin Gadkari said on Tuesday that infrastructure development is very important for India, and their goal is to increase the speed of highway construction in the country to 100 km daily. Gadkari stressed that in the next 18 months, India’s road infrastructure would be better than the United States.
He said, “The development of infrastructure is very important for India … I am working to accelerate the speed of construction of the highway in the country to 100 km daily.” The Minister of Road Transport and Highways said that the Ministry of the Ministry will construct 25,000 km two and four lane highways in the coming years. “There is no shortage of money in the highways projects,” Gadkari said.
In 2020-21, the construction of the highway in the country touched a record of 37 km daily. The highways built 10,237 km in 2019-20, 13,435 km in 2020-21, 10,457 km in 2021-22, 10,331 km in 2022-23 and 12,349 km in 2023-24.
The Minister also said that the central government is working on infrastructure projects of Rs 1 lakh crore to replace Delhi.
