Following the decision of the Regional Executive Committee, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi has become the president of the Asian Cricket Council.
The ACC Executive Committee held a virtual session in which the decision was taken to preside over Pakistan.
The Regional Cricket Body said in a statement that the Regional Cricket Body said in a statement, Naqvi, who served as chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) since February 2024.
Naqvi said, “I have a great honor to take over the Asian Cricket Council.
“Asia is the heartbeat of the World Cricket, and I am obliged to work with all the Member Board to intensify sports development and global influence.”
“Together, we will unlock new opportunities, promote maximum cooperation, and take Asian cricket to extraordinary heights. I also sincerely thank the ACC president, who is outgoing his leadership and partnership in the ACC during his tenure.”
ACC presidents are on the circulatory method in member states.
Naqvi won after Sri Lankan Cricket (SLC) President of Shami Silva. Considering the transfer, Silva shared his praise for the ACC community: “It is an honor to serve as the President of the Asian Cricket Council.
“The steadfast commitment to working with our member board has been important in raising the ACC stature throughout the region.”
Silva concluded, “When I retired, I am confident that under the leadership of Naqvi, the ACC will continue its significant journey and achieve development.”
Naqvi was appointed Chairman of the PCB for a three -year period in February last year and in addition to fulfilling the role of the PCB chief, Naqvi is also the Home Minister of Pakistan.
It was also learned that Naqvi had decided to divide his duties with the former captain of the Pakistan cricket team.
The Chief of the PCB will focus on administrative issues within the board and experienced pacer will work as his adviser on cricket affairs.
Younus will oversee cricket affairs, including international and domestic cricket issues, selection committee and any objection to players (NOCS).
The PCB 2014 allows the Chairman of the Constitution Board to divide or share with another official.
