Two suspects were killed and six others were injured in a firing at Florida State University (FSU) in the Florida city of Tallasi on Thursday, identified by law enforcement officials as a 20 -year -old son of a sheriff.
“It is not surprising to us that he has access to weapons,” Lyon County’s Sheriff Walter McNele said as a shooter.
His mother, Jessica Ecner, is the deputy of Sheriff in the office of Leon County Sheriff. She has been with the office for more than 18 years, and McNele said she had done “great work” in her position. During her career, officials said she served as a school resource officer.
McNele said that Phoenix Ecner used his mother’s handgun in the shooting at FSU.

“Unfortunately, his son had access to one of his weapons and he was one of the weapons found at the scene,” said McNeill. And we are investigating how the weapon was used. “
McNeill said, Foenix Ikner was named on August 17, 2021, 2021-2022 as a member of the Youth Advisory Council, in the office of Leon County Sheriff, which was established in 2020 to provide an open line of communication between Lyon County and local law enforcement youth.

According to the Sheriff’s office, the Council plays its role in advising Sheriff, but also reaches other counters in the county to inform them about the current opportunities. He also specializes in advocacy, leadership and team building by completing community service hours. Finally, members of the Youth Advisory Council use their skills to find ways to solve problems affecting the county.
McNele described Phoenix Econer as a longtime member of the Leon County Sheriff’s Office Citizen Advisory or Youth Advisory Council, who is “standing” in the Sheriff’s office family and is engaged in several offices offered training programs.

On Thursday, around 11:50 am, Phoenix Ecner allegedly opened fire on the FSU’s main campus, which shot several people near the Student Union building.

Police said two people – who are not students – were killed, and six others were shifted to a local hospital with bullet wounds.
Police said that Phoenix Ecner was also shifted to a local hospital.
Police said Phoenix Ecner requested his rights not to speak to the authorities.
