Toronto-Belo’s right-handed Max Sherzar got a second cortison shot in his troubled right thumb this week and he will try to play again when he joins Houston next week.
The three -time CY Ying Award -winning, Sherzar, was injected a cortison a day after joining a 15 -day injured list due to thumb inflammation on March 31. He played a catch several times on the recent road trip in Toronto, but he still had a thumb pain.
Schneider said this week’s injection was in different parts of Sherzar’s thumb compared to the first shot.
The 40 -year -old Sherzar on March 29 left his first start with Blue Jes against Blue Jesus for three innings due to his right late muscle discomfort. He said after the game that the problem of his thumb was responsible for this problem.
Earlier in March, Sherzar started training in spring due to thumb pain.
Sherzar signed a one -year contract with Blue Jes in February .55.5 million. He was 2-4 with 3.95 ERA in the ninth season last season, starting from the year earlier this year to recover from waist surgery. It also had a significant importance to the IL with shoulder fatigue and after September 14, it was not pitch due to left hamstring stress.
